A welcoming hallway

I think the hall should set the tone for the rest of the flat, and needs to be welcoming and well decorated. The only problem is that it is rather narrow and we are therefore a bit restricted on what we can do. Somewhere for coats and shoes to go would be great, and a little letter rack to keep our post in order. 

It would be really useful to perhaps line the area with bookshelves, as we'll definitely be short of these in the rest of the flat, but whether or not this will make the hall too narrow I don't know.
